Product Red is a growing success

HIV and AIDS is rapidly growing crisis throughout the continent of Africa. For quite sometime, researchers and scientist have been trying to develop a plan to minimize the number of infected people in the African population. In the year 2002 Bono, member of the group U2, decided to take a major stand against the crisis Africa is facing. Bono merge with Global Funds, an organization created in 2002 to help fight deadly diseases such as HIV, AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria, and established operation Product Red. Product Red is an organization supported by many major corporations. These corporations provide products with a Product Red logo to the public, and a percentage of their profit is donated to support the fight against HIV and AIDS in the Product Red campaign. Product Red has become a growing success since its establishment, with much support from major corporations, widening global awareness, and adequate funds rose.

Society Influences on our Diets Part 3

Unhealthy foods have a bad tendency to be much lower priced then healthy foods. Fast food restaurants such as McDonalds, Burger King, and Wendy’s are all low-priced, and all featuring high calories and fats in their foods. People who are focused and striving to eat healthy must be prepared for a financial deficiency. Healthy foods such as the many organic products are exceptionally high in comparison to the numerous non-organic products. To illustrate, regular non-organic milk cost about $2.20 per gallon and healthy organic milk cost about $3.85 per gallon. Other organic products in comparison to non-organic products follow the same trend in price differences in relation to the milk. Quality healthy foods will most often be served at expensive restaurants such as Quiznos, Schlotzsky's, Macaroni Grill, or Olive Garden. The extra expense society place on healthier foods turns people towards the less expensive unhealthier foods.

Society Influences on our Diets Part 2

Society has made the unhealthiest foods easily accessible. Since our society is driven off monetary standards, the majority of the foods produced and sold by merchants are made based on the idea of quantity rather than quality. Often quantity is created with a sacrifice of quality. In most instances, farmers utilize toxic chemicals such as pesticide, herbicide, and hormones in order to speed up the growing process of their crops and livestock, thereby increasing quantity and reducing quality. All throughout society, it is easy to encounter one of the millions of fast food restaurants throughout our community. The food served at the majority of fast food restaurants is often high in calories, fats, and oils. The society in which we live in is very high paced and people are always on the move, so a high percentage of people will choose fast food as an option just for this convenience. With these restaurants so abundant, and food quickly served, it is encouraged by society through its’ easy access and convenience.

Society Influences on our Diets Part 1

In many ways society propels the thought process and decision-making mechanism in the minds of the people. People will make wiser health choices if their diets were not influenced by society. What types of foods do most people crave? Why do most people crave these foods? Does society has anything to do with this? In our society today, it is easy to fall into an unhealthy diet.
